Youth Entrepreneurship Camp Open for Business!

This unique 5 day camp gives students the opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship and launch their own first ventures. With classroom activities, guest speakers, and an “Entrepreneur Tour,” campers learn what it takes to make their own businesses work. They develop business plans and then bring their ideas to the marketplace. These young entrepreneurs take the risks and responsibilities of running businesses in hopes of making a profit. JPMorgan Chase Foundation has funded the camp through a grant to the Delaware Financial Literacy Institute. The Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship, DEDO, ShopRite and United Way all provide additional support.

Chasing the Dream Camp provides students with a hands-on opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship and venture creation. It is the perfect vehicle for students to apply basic skills as well as to develop critical and creative thinking. Chasing the Dream Camp fills a gap in our schools which traditionally prepare students to “take a job rather than make a job.” However, studies show most new jobs created in the USA in the past decade have come from entrepreneurs and small businesses, and more than 70% of young Americans envision starting a business or doing something entrepreneurial as adults.
