Do you know an Outstanding Young Wilmingtonian?
The Wilmington Jaycees are accepting nominations for the 2009 Outstanding Young Wilmingtonian award, given annually in recognition of one person’s exceptional achievements or contributions to a specific field, organization, community, state or nation.
The award, a tradition in Wilmington for more than 60 years, honors a nominee whose outstanding humanitarian efforts exemplify the line of the Jaycee creed that states, “Service to humanity is the best work of life.”
All nominees must be between 21 and 39 years old, and may not turn 40 before June 1.
Completed nomination forms must be mailed by March 20 to the Wilmington Jaycees, Attn: OYW, 1309 N. Scott Street, Wilmington, DE 19806.
Nominees are asked to attend the awards ceremony, which will be held on April 7 at the Wilmington Jaycees club house, located at 1309 N. Scott Street.
The winner of the Outstanding Young Wilmingtonian award is entered into the Ten Outstanding Young Americans competition, sponsored by the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce. Past honorees include Richard Nixon, Christopher Reeve and Michelle Tafoya.
