Wanted: Director of Economic Development
The New Castle County Chamber of Commerce, a professional business trade organization with 1,700 members located in northern Delaware is seeking a dedicated and motivated professional to manage their economic development program.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Working knowledge of principles, theories and practices of economic development.
• Knowledge of both business and public policy issues.
• Understanding of the land development and approval process
• Strong oral, written and computer skills.
• Project management and coordination skills.
• Ability to interact with a wide range representatives from the private and public sectors.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Duties:
• Manage and coordinate the activities of the Council.
• Formulate and implement strategic plans.
• Interact with other economic development organizations in the region.
• Provide staff support to related Chamber committees.
• Respond to inquiries form existing and prospective businesses about relocating or expanding into the New Castle County area.
• Serve as the Council chief spokesperson and liaison with other business groups.
• Conduct marketing, media and public information activities to promote a favorable image of New Castle County and to encourage business growth.
• Conduct and coordinate research and analysis of business and industry data.
• Prepare written reports and make presentations.
A suitable candidate will have a working knowledge of the New Castle County market place and have a well developed set written and verbal communication skills and a proven record in business development, marketing, real estate or finance.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required and a master’s degree preferred. It is desirable to have at least three years of direct experience in the field of economic development, but other relevant business experience may be substituted. Salary range is between $60-$75K with a full benefit package.
