UD Enters the Era of Translational Science

Joining the University of Delaware in creating the DELAWARE VALLEY INSTITUTE FOR CLINICAL & TRANSLATIONAL SCIENCE (Members Only) are the Christiana Care Health System, Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children and Thomas Jefferson University .

The Institute aims to link together the lab, classroom and the hospital in order to speed the development and deployment of new technologies to patients who need them. These links will cover a broad array of disciplines. They also are combining to pursue Federal Grants in these areas.

Could this lead to a full fledged University of Delaware, Jefferson School of Medicine? We know President Harker has big plans and keeps them close to his vest until he is ready to deploy / unveil them. This could be one of his long term moves. It would be nice for students in the State of Delaware to be able to attend a medical school or veterinary school in their home state.
