Mission Statement
Blood Bank of Delmarva’s mission is to serve our community by meeting the needs of patients, hospitals, and members for safe, high quality blood products and related services.
How does it work?
The Blood Bank’s basis is its blood assurance plan which provides blood replacement coverage for its members.
So it’s a pretty simple concept- if you put blood in you and your family can take it out when you need it, without having to pay for replacing what you have used. This covers emergencies and transfusions as well as planned surgeries. The actual cost of replacing blood is about $30.00 a pint.
What do members need to do?
Provide a pint of blood about every 18-24 months in one of three ways:
How do you join?
There are individual membership plans, as well as employer sponsored group membership plans. Annually, dues are $5.00 per individual and there are senior plans available.
Face it, blood helps keep you alive. It’s not like you’ll never know when you will need some- you need it all of the time.
