Springboard Careers Offers Workshop that Helps Women Facing Career Re-Entry And Change
Springboard Careers, a company that specializes in helping women overcome the obstacles associated with long employment gaps, is offering a workshop to help participants “Skill Up & Spring Ahead: A Career Workshop for Women.”
“Skill Up & Spring Ahead: A Career Workshop for Women” has two parts:
1. Find Your Focus – Workshop exercises will help women identify what they want; avoid what they don’t; and, gain essential career-life skills for personal and professional growth.
2. Ramp up Your Résumé – Participants will learn best practices on current résumé styles and standards as well as visit case studies of typical career re-entrants or women in career transitions, ultimately working in groups and participating in résumé Q&A.
Participants who bring in résumés can get an on-the-spot quick review following the event and a 10% discount on professional résumé writing services through Springboard Careers.
This workshop is ideal for women who are planning a return to paid employment after spending a year or more out of the workforce. These job candidates may be facing a different corporate culture with newer technologies, all while armed with an outdated résumé. Says Springboard co-founder Julie MacWilliams: “We think this workshop will appeal to the woman who wants to know how to go about restarting her career, or isn’t exactly certain what type of work she wants to do or where her skills fit in today’s environment. If you plan to return to work within the next year and need help with finding confidence, focus, and the right résumé type, this workshop is for you.”
Springboard co-founder Erin Sicuranza adds,
“We have also designed the workshop for the currently-employed woman. Anyone who is thinking about a career redirection, but isn’t sure what she’d like to do, or how she should craft her résumé for a different field of work, will benefit.”

Springboard’s current services include résumé and cover letter review and writing services, career-life counseling, and image consulting. Additional services such as technology training and interviewing skills are forthcoming. Springboard also posts jobs on its website, springboardjobs.com, and connects companies with job candidates by fostering relationships with hiring managers. Although Springboard was conceived as a company to help women who’ve been out of the workforce for long periods of time, their services are beneficial to a wider array of job candidates, including the post-retirement job seeker, the employed-but-seeking-change candidate, and the person with an unexpected life change that’s forcing new employment. By teaming up with local experts in a variety of personal and professional development fields, Springboard will become the area’s one-stop resource for career on-ramping.
MacWilliams and Sicuranza will co-facilitate the workshop along with Dr. Lani Nelson-Zlupko of LNZ Consulting. MacWilliams’ background in corporate marketing makes her an expert at “packaging” new or revamped products; for someone reentering the workforce, the packaging helps demonstrate that candidate’s value. Sicuranza’s background in instructional design and professional development enables her to identify what skills a candidate needs to succeed and create the plan for how to build them. Nelson-Zlupko is a licensed therapist and executive coach who specializes in helping people move forward with career, family, and life.
