SBA Hosts BAE Systems for Contracting Workshop

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Delaware Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) will host a workshop for small business owners on how to team with prime contractors to compete for federal contracts. A representative from BAE Systems (BAE) U.S. Combat Systems and Support Solutions divisions, one of the nation’s largest federal contractors, will provide first hand information on how best to team with BAE and other prime contractors.

The workshop will be held Thursday, Nov. 3, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Delaware Bio Institute, 15 Innovation Way, in Newark, Del. At the workshop, business owners will learn about BAE’s global supply chain, small business and diversity commitment, sub-contracting and teaming opportunities, and have the opportunity to network with potential teaming partners.

“We need to create an environment for small businesses to team with each other or with large contractors such as BAE Systems if we expect them to successfully compete for government contracts,” said Jayne Armstrong, district director of the SBA’s Delaware District Office. “This workshop series is designed for small businesses to learn what the corporation buys and for both the corporation and the other attendees to learn what the small businesses’ capabilities are.”

BAE provides defense and security services to the federal government ranging from equipment, facilities and infrastructure to information technology. The methods discussed at the workshop will apply not only to BAE but to other prime contractors as well.

The workshop is no cost, but you must register to attend: http://events.sba.gov/eventmanagement/eventlisting.aspx?state=DE.
