SBA Honors Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant as One of Nation’s “SBA 100”

Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant has been named by the Small Business Administration (SBA) as one of the SBA 100. The local company was founded in 1996 and has grown to eight restaurants and over 800 employees. Governor Jack Markell and SBA Regional Administrator John Shoraka will join City of Wilmington and other SBA officials today to honor the firm for their selection.

Governor Jack Markell and SBA Regional Administrator John Shoraka will visit Kevin Finn, Mark Edelson, and Kevin Davies, owners and founders of Iron Hill, on Thursday, September 15. Iron Hill was selected as one of the SBA 100. The SBA 100 recognizes 100 companies throughout the nation that had early assistance from the SBA, and have now created more than 100 jobs. Descriptions and a photograph gallery of each of the SBA 100 companies can be found at www.sba.gov/100.

The SBA 100 companies include businesses in a variety of industries, from manufacturing, to food and beverage, to shipping. Each business received SBA support in the form of capital, contracting, counseling or investment before going on to create at least 100 jobs.

Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant was founded in 1996 with the assistance of SBA resource partners; SCORE and the Small Business Technology and Development Center, and a SBA guaranteed loan, the company now operates eight restaurants with more than 800 employees.

SBA’s mission is to maintain and strengthen the nation’s economy by aiding, counseling, assisting and protecting the interests of small businesses. SBA offers counseling and training through its resource partners: the Small Business Technology and Development Center, SCORE, and YWCA Delaware Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship.
