SBA’s 2013 Delaware Small Business Award Winners
The U.S. Small Business Administration’s Delaware District Office announced the District’s 2013 Small Business Award winners. SBA’s Delaware Acting District Director, John Fleming, will officially present these winners with their awards at SBA’s annual Delaware “Stand Up for Small Business” event, to be held this year on May 21, 2013. Delaware’s 2013 SBA Small Business Awards winners will be honored at a 5:30 p.m. awards dinner that night at Deerfield Golf Club, 507 Thompson Station Road, Newark, Del. 19711. Earlier that day, Deerfield Golf Club is offering discounted tee times for event participants. The event is open to the media.
“As a local commemoration of the Presidentially-designated National Small Business Week, this event is an opportunity to recognize the achievements of small business and its advocates in Delaware,” said Fleming. “Every year the award winners honored at this event have truly distinguished themselves and represent the very best that the Delaware small business community has to offer.”
Businesses to be honored at SBA’s 2013 Delaware Small Business Awards event are:
Small Business Person of the Year: Coleman E. Bye, III, President/Owner, The Mercantile Press, Inc., Wilmington, Del.
Founded in 1884, this family-owned business is the oldest printing company in Delaware. The company is a full-service print communications firm serving clients in a variety of industries.
Small Business Exporters of the Year: Michael Linett, President; July Linett, Vice President, Operations, Zerowait Corporation, Wilmington, Del.
Zerowait Corporation provides cost-effective storage systems and technical support to customers worldwide. Founded in 1991, this Delaware business exports to Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Europe.
Family-Owned Business of the Year: Catherine Hopkins Grieco, President, Hopkins and Sons, Inc., New Castle, Del.
Founded in 1946, Hopkins and Sons, Inc., is a 4th generation, full-service relocation company. The company provides moving, packing, crating and storage services for local, nationwide, and international relocations for residential and commercial customers.
Small Business Champions of the Year: Clinton Tymes, State Director; Barbara Necarsulmer, Associate State Director, Delaware Small Business and Technology Development Center (“SBTDC”), Newark, Del.
Clinton Tymes has been the State Director of the Delaware SBTDC network since 1994. In that role, he conducts the long range planning and program development for the statewide network. Tymes served as Training Coordinator for the SBTDC from 1989 to 1994.
Barbara Necarsulmer has been the Associate State Director of the Delaware SBTDC since 1993. In that role, she handles operations, marketing, IT and financial administration for the statewide SBTDC network as well as the PTAC. From 1987 through 1996, Necarsulmer was the SBTDC’s sole representative in Kent and Sussex counties, Delaware, where she directly assisted hundreds of business owners.
