Public Hearing on Proprosed Workers’ Compensation Rate Increase in Delaware

Am I really going out on a limb here if I say that businesses in Delaware are opposed to this rate increase?

INSURANCE COMMISSIONER KAREN WELDIN STEWART, hereby gives notice that a PUBLIC HEARING will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Department of Justice, 820 North French Street, 6th Floor, Wilmington, DE 19801.

Pursuant to 18 Del. C. §§ 2605 and 2610, and 29 Del. C. §§ 10121-29, the purpose of the hearing is to allow for public comments and to determine whether a particular proposed rate is excessive, inadequate, or unfairly discriminatory and whether such rate is in compliance with Chapter 26 of Title 18 of the Delaware Code, namely, Delaware Compensation Rating Bureau Filing No. 1201 filed with the Delaware Department of Insurance on August 14, 2012. The docket number assigned to this hearing is 2074-2012.

RESIDUAL MARKET RATE AND VOLUNTARY MARKET LOSS COST FILING
PROPOSED EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 1, 2012

While we are at it, how about we remove the sunset clause from the 2009 legislation that brought an increase in the corporate franchise tax, and an 8% increase in the gross receipts tax?

I bet someone in Dover thinks that is a good idea too.
