My new Raynor Maverick Multifunction Fabric Executive Chair

You either love or hate new office equipment.

I’m the kind of person that loves it, but I am still happy to use the old stuff until it is falling apart- literally. That’s exactly what happened to my old desk chair. Washers and bolts would occasionally drop from places unknown, and my co-workers were afraid that they would need to fill out some paperwork regarding an injury that was certain to be the result of me hitting the floor. It was probably just a matter of time until I actually did.

    Enter the new chair.
    My New Chair
The Raynor Maverick Multifunction Fabric Executive Chair to be exact.

I’ve had it for about a week now, so I am ready to give you my review.
Here’s my analysis of each of the specs:

      • Adjust the headrest up or down for neck support.
      – This is true, however, I am not a fan of the headrest. I can take it or leave it.

      • Tilt controls for ideal positioning.
      – Check. Seat and Back adjustments both work.

      • Height- and width-adjustable arms relieve shoulder strain.
      – Uh, yea. The adjustable arms work. I don’t know if they actually relive shoulder
      strain or not.

      • One-touch seat-height adjusts for perfect posture.
      – Check.

      • Lumbar cushioning supports your back.
      – Sure, why not. The chair has a cushioned back.

      • Dual-wheel casters for easy mobility.
      – Don’t all office chairs on wheels have this sort of thing now?

      • Sturdy steel frame for durability.
      – I haven’t really had the opportunity to test this statement out yet. I will find
some stairs and roll the chair down them to see what happens. More to come…

      • Designed for intensive use.
      – Intensive use? This is a chair. You sit in it.

      • Meets or exceeds ANSI/BIFMA Performance Standards.
      – I confess. I had no idea what ANSI/BIFMA is. I don’t want to ruin the surprise, check it out for yourself.

      • Easy assembly instructions included.
      – Agreed. It only took two of us to put the chair together. That was mainly for the
sake of convenience (or at least that is my story, and I’m sticking to it).

      • 44″H x 26 1/2″W x 25″D.
      – I’m not really going to measure this chair. Let’s just agree that this is correct.

      • Backed by the manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty.
      – Good to know, in case I can’t figure out if that one lever marked
“push in < - backward tilting, pull out -> backward tilting” is actually supposed to do
      something or not.

The conclusion; The specs at the website we bought this chair from read better than some of the creative resumes we get from recent college grads, but in the end, sometimes a chair by any other name is still just a chair.

All in all, I’m not unhappy with this chair, but I have to say it didn’t exactly knock my socks off either.

But I am confident that it won’t suddenly dump me on the floor…

I have recently bought this very chair – and in general, I quite like it.

However, I hope you don’t have an occasion to actually NEED that “limited Lifetime Manufacturer’s Warranty”

I purchased my chair at Office Depot. I also purchased an additional 2-year warranty. 20 days into my new chair, that little “push in backward tilting” lever you mention above started failing – That is when you realy find out what it does!

I called on my contract. They said “Call Raynor” and kindly gave me the number and even transferred me.

Raynor apparently makes garage doors. They don’t ADMIT to making ANYTHING else. No chairs. No Customer Service you can actually TALK to.

I really, really hope that your chair doesn’t need any service! If I DO find out how to contact them for warranty issues, I will try to post again!!

      This just in:

I was finally (took over an hour!) given the following number: 800-637-0005. It is apparently a “division” of Raynor that handles their office products. They said they were in New York (presume city) – though I suppose it could have been anywhere.

Without a hitch, they are sending me an entire new “control unit” to resolve my tilt issue. Nice service that – I am just curious why they don’t make it evident that they even exist!

      Cheers

Ack!! I too have the Maverick Multifunction High-Back chair from Office Depot – and the left arm just SNAPPED on it!! Hence my googling for the chair now (nice SEO btw lol). Office Depot is showing me NO LOVE in returning it… I guess I got fooled by the “lifetime limited warranty” – instead of buying their plan.

The chair was comfortable for awhile, but the arm adjustment being made of plastic and snapping after only 6 months is NOT a good thing! I’d avoid this chair!

BTW – I’m only 180lbs, so it’s not like a beast was rolling around in the chair or anything…

      I love this chair.

My right arm snapped off. I will be using that phone number tomorrow or mondya and get a new one. Aside for the arm snapping off it is an awesome chair. I pretty much live in it. I work at home and the office is also tehe video game movie room. So I spend ALOT of time in this chair.

I just bought the floor model of this chair at a good price, so it doesn’t come with a manuel. apparently this is being discontinue,

The chair seems to be okay, but without the manual, I couldn’t figure out what “push in backward tilting” suppose to do. My doesn’t move at all. Can anyone help?

Or do you know whether they have a softcopy of the installation instruction that I can download.?

      Thanks,

      Gary

When sitting flat, my chair seat actually points downward. I can lock it in a backward tilting position using one of the levers, but that’s a permanent lock – no rocking allowed.
As for the Push In Pull Out lever – If you lean back in your chair a little, you’ll be able to push it in and pull it out. I apparantly allows the chair seat to tilt a little more downward when pulled out. It keeps the seat somewhat tilted back when pushed in, but not enough for my comfort.
