MidAtlantic Wine + Food Festival Launches 2015 Events

The wait is over, as tickets for the 2015 MidAtlantic Wine + Food Festival TM presented by Bank of America are now on sale at www.mawff.org. In addition to the Festival week of Wednesday, May 13—Sunday, May 17, 2015, the first of several preview events is fast approaching.

Gastronomes won’t have to bide much time as the Festival has confirmed its first preview event outside of the Festival week, A Taste of the MidAtlantic. It takes place on Sunday, March 8, 2015, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Education Building, 1200 N. French St., Wilmington, DE. For $75, guests will enjoy food and beverages from area chefs and purveyors, wineries, distilleries and breweries, as well as festive music.

A true local preview of the four-day international Festival, A Taste of the MidAtlantic has confirmed chefs from multiple states to showcase their talents.

Laura Stimson, the Festival’s Executive Producer, describes the familiar event setting, “The bright atrium has been transformed into an activity space for the Community Education Building. It’s a cheerful venue for a world-class brunchtime fete.”

The building at 12th and French was donated to the Longwood Foundation for educational purposes by Bank of America in 2012 and is now home to two schools – Kuumba Academy and Academia Antonia Alonso. Three-time Festival beneficiary Christina Cultural Arts Center provides arts education programming to the Community Education Building schools.

Chip Rossi, Delaware market president for Bank of America, which has returned as the Festival’s 2015 Presenting Sponsor, said, “The MidAtlantic Wine + Food Festival is forging pathways for culinary students to achieve their educational goals, showcases local cultural institutions and has the ability to drive economic development for the region.”

Festival Board President Vance Kershner promises an exciting year for the region’s food, wine, beer and spirits lovers, “This year’s Festival week is made up of 35 events, and we’ve dug deep to find even more special venues that keep the Festival fresh for returning guests. We’re expanding into both New Jersey and Maryland, ensuring visitors get a true MidAtlantic experience. Several preview events are in the works from February through April to whet appetites for Festival week.”
