May Jobs Report
• U.S. payrolls increased by 175,000, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
• The private sector added 178,000 jobs during the month.
• The unemployment rate rose slightly to 7.6 percent. The unemployment rate for college-degreed workers 25 and older declined slightly to 3.8 percent.
• Temporary help services gained 25,600 jobs over the month.
• Professional and business services added 57,000 jobs in May (589,000 over the past year).
