LyondellBasell selects Wilmington, Delaware as headquarters for North American Polymers Business
The expansion, made possible from a Strategic Fund grant from DEDO, promises to bring high paying jobs to Delaware.
From the press release:
“With LyondellBasell’s commitment to expanding in Delaware, our residents will be provided another great opportunity for valuable and high-quality jobs in an innovative industry,” said Governor Ruth Ann Minner. “We are pleased this company has chosen to continue investing in our state’s economy through their expansion efforts.”
The grant money is certainly enticing, but that only amounts to $126,000.00. In reality, that won’t pay for much. So what else brings LyondellBasell to Wilmington Delaware?
Michael P. Mulrooney, senior vice president of LyondellBasell, confirms the old adage- location, location, location.
“Wilmington was selected because of its proximity to key customers and convenient access to multiple transportation systems. Our company has a long history of operations in Wilmington, and we continue to benefit from the availability of a highly-skilled workforce.”
LyondellBasell Industries is one of the world’s largest polymers, petrochemicals and fuels companies.
