Greater Newark Network Hosts Public Meeting on Education
As we have undertaken the effort to promote a strong and vibrant economy for our area, we have been continually confronted with the linkages between economic development and education:
1. When job creating companies look at relocating their people and organizations to our area, what do they think of the quality of our school system? In many cases, the answer to that question can determine the outcome.
2. Is there enough education choice available to parents and students in the greater Newark area? Do we need more charter schools? Do we need to attract private schools to the area?
3. Are our public schools providing our students with the type of education they will need to successfully compete in the 21st century job market? If not, what can and should be done to strengthen the system?
These are just a few examples of some of the tough questions confronting us your input is valued!
What: Education in the Greater Newark Area: A Public Conversation
Where: Newark High School in the cafeteria
When: Monday, December 6th at 7pm
This will not be a standard public meeting with a parade of talking heads at the front of the room telling you what they believe. Instead, we will break up into “conversation groups” so that every attendee gets an opportunity to express their views and converse with their neighbors on the subject. All feedback will then be synthesized and returned to you in the form of a report following the meeting.
