For The 5th Consecutive Year, Freedom Credit Union Sponsors Whyy’s Biz Kid$
For the 5th year in a row, Freedom Credit Union is sponsoring Biz Kid$, an innovative, fast-paced TV series where kids teach kids about money and entrepreneurship.
Freedom’s local sponsorship of Biz Kid$ will run every Sunday morning from March 25 until May 27th on WHYY TV 12 from 7:30 – 8:00 AM. Plus, a Freedom web tile will be included on the Newsworks.org Biz Kid$ homepage for the month of April. Freedom is lending its support to the show because of the program’s focus on educating school-aged children about saving, budgeting, investing, and giving back to the community. The Credit Union is committed to helping kids succeed and providing financial literacy education to the community it serves. Since 2006, Freedom has provided financial education materials to more than 250 classes, reaching approximately 50,000 students. Freedom’s focus on education was also a catalyst for creating the “Voices of Inspiration” Award for Teaching Excellence in 2007, an annual award that recognizes twenty-three exemplary educators in Montgomery County.
The Biz Kid$ TV series is exclusively underwritten by America’s Credit Unions to teach kids about money. The show, produced by the Emmy Award-winning creators of Bill Nye the Science Guy was created to entertain, engage, and elevate kids’ knowledge about money. Every Biz Kid$ episode will either begin or end with a narrator reminding viewers that “Production funding for Biz Kid$ is provided by
America’s Credit Unions, where people are worth more than money,” reinforcing the benefit of belonging to a credit union.
