Dover Business Lands First HUBZone Contract at DAFB
Kim Adams was elated. She had just received news that her firm, Mountain Consulting had received their first Federal Contract at Dover Air Force Base (DAFB) as a business certified as being located in a Historically Under Utilized Business Zone (HUBZone). Delaware small businesses, like Mountain Consulting, can grow their businesses with increased access to federal government contracting opportunities through SBA’s HUBZone Program.
The contract is for repair of the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system in the Civil Engineering building on base.
“While this is a small contract, it is a great stepping stone for our business. It provides an opportunity for us to demonstrate our high quality and professionalism, which can then lead to bigger projects,” said Adams.
“Delaware’s newest addition to the HUBZone Program, Mountain Consulting, is a great example of the Program at work in our local community,” said John Fleming, district director of the U.S. Small Business Administration office in Delaware. “The HUBZone Program revitalizes struggling business corridors, or “HUBZones, by giving their small businesses more access to federal government contracting opportunities. Given that edge, businesses can grow, create jobs, and turn whole communities around. When small businesses, like Mountain Consulting, are a success, they can hire more employees, and that makes Delaware a better place for all of us.”
