Delaware Tech Faculty and Staff Honored for Excellence
Delaware Technical Community College presented the 2012 Excellence in Teaching, Excellence in Service, and Excellence in Student Success Awards at its annual Collegewide Employee Recognition Event on Thursday, May 17, 2012. Twelve faculty and nineteen staff members received the awards.
The Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes instructors at the College who are committed to excellence as evidenced by their innovative teaching strategies, use of educational technology, and support of students in and out of the classroom. Award winners must also demonstrate commitment to the College mission through an active role in campus affairs and through involvement in the community as representatives of Delaware Tech.
The Excellence in Service Award recognizes a Delaware Tech non-instructional employee — or a group of employees — who exemplify the highest standards of excellence and commitment to the College and its community. Recipients were selected based on one or more of the following criteria: exceptional achievement, initiative or leadership; exceptional qualities of team spirit in accomplishing established goals and objectives; exceptional effort to facilitate effective, productive interactions within the College community; innovative ideas or actions which resulted in substantial improvements in quality effectiveness and/or efficiency; and national, local or professional acknowledgement of achievement or extensive knowledge in a particular job or field.
The Excellence in Student Success Award recognizes individuals who exemplify the highest standards of excellence and commitment in promoting and supporting student success. Recipients were selected based on exceptional contributions in one or more of the following areas: using their abilities to develop new initiatives or activities that promote and support student success; demonstrating an active and sustained commitment to helping students feel welcome and connected to the College; showing sensitivity to students’ academic and/or personal goals and providing encouragement and/or mentoring when appropriate; generating excitement for student engagement in College activities and programs.
