Delaware earns a B+ for overall management

Delaware has received a B+ for overall management in the latest “Grading the States” report, jointly issued by the Pew Center on the States and Governing Magazine. Only three other states, Utah, Virginia and Washington received a higher grade than Delaware’s B+. They each received an A-.

The Grading the States report grades states on a number of categories including money, people, infrastructure and information. Delaware scored high on a number of categories including those pertaining to overall financial management. Delaware has strong financial practices that include excellent long-term planning, budgeting and maintenance of a sound structural balance, according to the report. In addition, the report highlighted Delaware’s new online human resource management system, DEL, as an innovative tool for state government. The report also cited Delaware’s online services and information as a strength, as Delaware was recently named as having the best state e-government services.

    Delaware has traditionally been at the forefront of economic development and understanding that free enterprise is the way for prosperity for all people. As JFK said, “A rising tide lifts all boats.” Keep up the good work, and next time shoot for an “A”.
