Delaware Division of Revenue Encourages Online Renewal of Business Licenses
It is the end of the year and time to renew your business license for 2009. All Delaware business licenses expire at the end of this month and the Division of Revenue is encouraging online renewal this year. The process starts with the FAQ page here.
In order to renew online you must have your account number. It would be nice if they could eliminate this requirement since it is only available on your paper renewal notice. Online renewal should mean you could do away with the notice as well. Your account number:
The 13-digit account number should be printed near the top left corner of the renewal form, as shown below. In most cases, the account number is 1 + Federal employer ID + 001 (like 1-51-111-2222-001) or 2 + Social Security number + 001 (like 2-222-33-4444-001.)
You will also need your business license number and that is easily obtained from your printed business license that you are displaying in your place of business. You are displaying it, right? Good. Then you are all set.
This is one more government regulation that has become slightly easier to comply with.
