Circuit City to Close 155 Stores

Circuit City, incorporated in Virginia, with three stores in Delaware, and one close by in Salisbury, MD, will be closing 155 stores nationwide and, as they characterized it, aggressively renegotiating leases on others.

None of the Delaware locations are slated to be closed. This will be good news for the commercial real estate market in Delaware. The build out of more office and retail space – especially keen in Newark and Wilmington – deserves a close watch. Vacancies in some markets are rising already and the worst has not yet hit.
