Can workers be fired for websurfing?
Apparently not if they work for the Big Apple.
An administrative law judge in New York has found that surfing the Web at work is equivalent to reading a newspaper or talking on the phone. The judge recommended the lightest possible punishment for a city worker accused of disregarding warnings to stay off the Internet.
Judge: Not unreasonable for city workers to surf Web
I guess New York isn’t an “at will” state.
