Trained and experienced in leadership and management, Judy Vredenburgh leads Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the oldest and largest youth mentoring organization in the United States. The organization celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 2004.
Vredenburgh started her career as a retail buyer. She soon rose to senior positions and CEO at the $257 million Division of Melville Corporation, Chess King. But she had always planned a second career in non-profits. It was how she was raised. “Social justice, helping the disadvantaged, these are the values I was brought up with.”
At March of Dimes where she was Vice-President, she increased revenues by 50%, from $121 million to $183 million.
Big Brothers Big Sisters has been immortalized by Hollywood and Norman Rockwell, chartered by Congress and honored with a commemorative stamp from the Postmaster General. But it has also demonstrated a steward’s watchful eye of its operations. Forbes Magazine, for instance, has ranked Big Brothers Big Sisters as one of its top 10 charities based upon three measures: charitable commitment, fundraising efficiency and donor dependency.
The Mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one relationships with measurable impact.
Judy Vredenburgh will speak on how mission and leadership at Big Brothers Big Sisters have helped mentored children transform their lives. They are:
-
46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
27 % less likely to begin using alcohol
52% less likely to skip school
The Consultants’ Forum encourages you to learn more about how a business executive’s passion to make a difference has been translated into mentoring relationships with over 200,000 children in 5,000 communities across 50 states.
